Scene 1: Shoot out at the Mos Shuuta cantina
As the twins suns blast down on the baked crust of Tatooine, the morning markets begin to close up shop for the day and the crowds of moisture farmers and scoundrels start to find their way into welcome shade. The proceedings are disturbed by five gammorean guards, thugs of the local Hutt Teemo, who strong arm their way through the dispersing patrons, searching and stalking for their prey. Just then, four separate individuals notice the approaching thugs and each make the frantic decision to sneak down the stairs into the nearest cantina.
- Firstly, a lone sand-covered Jawa, who desperately attempts to blend in with a local group of fellow jawas.
- Secondly, a rugged and handsome human male, who quickly crosses the room and convinces a twi’lek dancing girl to let him accompany her on stage, attempting to hide in plain sight as an exotic dancer.
- Thirdly, a droid clinks downs the stairs and attempts to hide amongst the drunken patrons of the cantina, posing as a serving droid..
- Finally, a gungan male dressed in robes scampers down onto the landing and quickly joins a nearby sabbacc table, attempting to become a shadow in the crowd.
Destiny appears to have drawn these four individuals together. Each being has individually incurred the wrath of Teemo the Hutt, and assumed that the guards were searching for them.
Meanwhile, the Gammorrean guards enter the cantina and begin to search for their quarry. One of the porcine aliens spots the droid, V3-GA5 (Vegas) trying to conceal itself among the crowd and so the gammorreans all draw out their cudgels and approach the droid from multiple angles.
Hustling through the crowd, the droid goes on the offensive by pulling out a SKZ Sporting Blaster Rifle from its chasis and shooting one of the gammorreans straight through the head. The laser blows out a ceiling pylon which crashes to the floor. The other gammorreans jump back in surprise and the cantina erupts into chaos as the civilians patrons erupt into pandaemonium .
Just then, Meeknu the jawa draws his small slugthrower pistol and attempts to shoot a nearby gammorrean in the back. The thug wheels around in surprise, the bullet embedded in layers of fat and thick hide, and slams the jawa across the head with his cudgel. The jawa, head reeling, starts to run for the exit.
Meanwhile, dancing up on stage, Crank Steevador hides his surprise that the gammorreans were not after him. He flees out the backdoor of the stage, abandoning his clothing (which he had removed during his strip tease ensemble).
Simultaneously, Soondabu the gungan uses the chaos to also run to the back door.
Out in the hot streets of Mos Shutta, the jawa and droid pair up and run for a nearby landspeeder, which Meeknu immediately begins hotwiring. Bursting from the back door, Crack Steevador races around the cantina, clothes awkwardly clasped in hands and hops in the back of the landspeeder, firing his blaster at the gammorreans. The remaining thugs stumble out of the cantina and retrieve their rifles from their own speeder and the streets erupt in laser fire.
Soondabu exits the backdoor and recognises the droid, jawa and human nearby and runs towards them, ears and robes flapping in the wind. Meeknu fires up the landspeeder and is able to accelerate down the streets and out of sight of the thugs.
Scene 2: Robbing ’em blind.
Finally loosing their pursuers, the gang agree that they need to escape Mos Shutta, and preferably the system, to get out of the reaches of Teemo the Hutt. Soondabu and V3-GA5 recalls that Teemo had a freighter parked in Docking Bay Aurek, unloading spice and other blackmarket goods while waiting for repairs to be made to its Hyperdrive motivator.
Stopping by Mos Shutta’s junkyard, the gang manage to deceive the shop owner long enough to steal a Hyperdrive Matter Reactor Ignitor (HMRI) from his wares.
Next, the gang take a drive by Docking Bay Aurek to case the security of Teemo’s private hangerbay. Inside they notice a gang of weequay standing guard while an ageing Wayfarer-class Medium Freighter is in the process of being unloaded. Meeknu notices a side entrance has been left unattended, so the gang park their landspeeder nearby and attempt to break the lock. Although they are unsuccessful, Crank notices a nearby spaceport luggage-utility skimmer. The gang decide to pose as a spaceport repair crew who had been booked to install/repair the HMRI, and to steal the ship from under the weequay.
With V3-GA5 posing as the driver, the gang approach the open bay of Aurek. They manage to deceive their way into boarding the ship, and meet the leader of the weequay, Behruz. Meeknu installs the HMRI and breaks some conduits in the engine bay, filling the ship with harmless plasma. Crank convinces Behruz and his brothers that the ship has gone critical and needs to be evacuated before its explodes, telling the criminals that they will pilot the ship out of the city and abandon it in the dune sea. Convinced, Behruz leaves his ‘dumbest’ brother behind to scuttle the ship and disembarks.
In the chaos, V3-GA5 notices a smuggling compartment in the cargo hold of the ship, and awakens a small elephantine-creature.
Crank pilots the ship out into the desert, his clunky piloting successfully knocking out Behruz’s brother. V3-GA5 coldly shoots the unconscious weequay and dumps his body out the airlock. Once the ship clears Mos Shutta airspace they blast out of Tatooine’s thin atmosphere and plot a short, quick jump to the edge of the solar system.
The stars elongate and the ship rumbles into the vastness of space.
